2026 BCES Car Rider Procedures

It’s time to kick off another great year at Balls Creek! We appreciate your patience as it usually takes us a few weeks to get into a good flow during our morning and afternoon car rider line. However, we need your help to make things run as smoothly as possible. If everyone will adhere to the following guidelines we can ensure our morning and afternoon car rider lines run as efficiently as possible.
Morning Car Riders
-MANNERS MATTER! Our morning car rider line utilizes two lanes (to keep traffic out of the road) until you reach an orange cone, at which point we ask that you politely zipper merge into one lane for drop off. There is absolutely no passing in the one lane unloading zone as this poses a safety risk for our students.
-KEEP MOVING! During morning car riders we need all vehicles to pull all the way up, around the curve to the end of the sidewalk. Pull all the way up to the car in front of you, leaving as little space as possible. You do not need to stop at an adult. Students should exit the vehicle independently - but our staff are always nearby to assist our smallest owls when needed.
- BE READY! Students should unbuckle and have their backpacks, lunches, water bottles, and great attitudes ready to go when they reach the unloading zone and the vehicle comes to a stop.
-BE INDEPENDENT! Students should open their own car door, exit the vehicle, and close the door behind them. Our staff are happy to assist our kindergarten students with this task while they learn the procedures.
-NO WALK UPS! All car riders must be dropped off in the car rider line. Parents are not allowed to walk students up to the building, or to class. Exception: During the first week of school KINDERGARTEN parents may walk their students to class.
-ADULTS STAY SEATED! We ask that all adults remain in the car. Students should exit the car on their own - we always have staff available to help as needed.
-PARK WHEN NEEDED! Everyone has a rough morning sometimes. If your child is having a hard time getting started you will be asked to go through the line and park in the parking lot, or go through the line again until your child is ready to start their day.
-ARRIVE ON TIME! Once we get our routine down pat our morning staff will leave the car rider line when the tardy bell rings at 8:15 a.m. The front doors will be locked at this time and an adult must walk students in to sign them in tardy. Remember that all adults entering the building must have a photo ID.
Afternoon Car Riders
-NO WALK UPS! If you are picking up a student after 2:45, you will need to join the car line and wait until dismissal. Do not park and walk up to the door.
-NAME SIGN ON DISPLAY! You will receive a name sign to display in your front windshield. Please display the name sign every day that you pick up a car rider and leave it up until you pull out.
-KEEP MOVING! If the line you are in is moving forward and you are waiting on your student, just move as the line does. The staff will direct the student to your car.
-ATTENTION PLEASE! Watch the director for directions on when to stop and go. Do not call your student to your car or get out of your vehicle.
-BUCKLE UP! If you have a student that needs help buckling please pull into a parking spot to assist them after you leave the car line.
